DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

For most of my life, I was drawn in by dark, moody, traditional interiors. That was what I grew up around and where I felt most comfortable. After having my first (and only) child, everything changed. I’m not sure whether it was the result of brain reorganization during pregnancy, the shock of parenthood, or the despair of our current political climate, but suddenly I felt preternaturally pulled towards two paradoxical concepts: peaceful and energized.

While peaceful is a wildly subjective term, to me it means the following: an uncluttered floorplan, enough negative space for your eye to rest, rich tactile experiences, and well-organized decor. I am a firm believer that simplicity is not the absence of complexity, but the mastery of it. Trying my hand at many different styles has taught me the art of restraint.

Energized is an experience we are all more likely to agree on. This might mean brighter colors, artwork that excites, and a touch of playfulness. Something that wakes you up like a shot of espresso.

A third concept, cozy, feels necessary to balance out the home. Everyone needs a space where they can tuck away from the world, enveloped in safety and comfort.

To me, these three ideals come together to create an uplifting environment. We will assign each room to one of these three categories to inform our design direction.

AESTHETIC

Below is a collection of images to capture the essence of the style I’d like to embrace moving forward. They are simply meant to communicate and inspire. My previous work can be found here.

Each photo is linked to ensure proper credit is given. This section will be updated regularly. “Energetic” doesn’t currently host any interior examples as I’ve yet to find colorful contemporary images that feel right.
